For many of us, the heart of every family home is the kitchen. In the kitchen, the family spends many hours per day and week. We cook there, we eat there, and we talk there while doing other duties. That’s why we care so much about how our kitchen looks like and how we feel when we stay there. Decoration in the kitchen is as important as the one in the living room.
When we are decorating the kitchen, it is important to pay close attention to every detail. The right cabinets, accessories, and decorations are all it takes to make the kitchen inviting us to spend there a long time in a good mood.
In every kitchen, we have a minimum of one place which is very important, useful and at the same time, it can have a decorative role.
It is a backsplash. The backsplash protects the wall from dirty marks from cooking, and from hot temperature.
While remodelling our kitchen we can decide which material to use as a kitchen backsplash.
Choosing the right tiles for the interior is important because they will give a finished look to any kitchen.
Most people are using ceramic tiles, stone tiles, or metal wall tiles for backsplash.
If you decide to use metal tiles for a backsplash you have to choose a kind of metal. It can be copper, brass, or stainless steel tiles. The best will be if you decide to buy handmade tiles. They will be expensive, but at the same time, they will create the best effect and totally transform the look of the kitchen.
Before you will make a decision about the kind of tiles for the kitchen backsplash you should know that the process of installation is not easy, and you will need a professional installer (it will not be a cheap option), or you need to read and learn how to do it by yourself.
The installation process is a bit complicated, but you have to install the tiles properly the first time.
The first step in the process of installing metal backsplash tiles is choosing the size that will fit the best with your kitchen. It is important to consider tiles size and shape as well.
After selecting the tiles for the backsplash which fit the style of your kitchen, it is time to install them. How to do that operation you can read below.
Kitchen backsplash installation
The first thing that you have to do is to measure the space where tiles will be placed. These measurements are very important because they will affect the way the tiles are cut and placed on the wall.
A good idea is to mark a surface on the floor and of equal size as the chosen place on the wall and lay the tiles out in the desired pattern.
This will help to see how they will look on the wall.
The next step is to cut the tiles that they will fit the place. The best equipment to do it is the wet saw that you can rent from the local tool store.
It takes a skill to use this tool efficiently, but you can learn that easily from instruction.
After a cutting operation, it is time to put the tiles on the wall, but first, you should make some lines there to know which tile in which position should lay.
To attach the tiles to the wall you will need to use a special adhesive cement.
While spreading the cement on the wall it is important to create grooves with the trowel so that the tiles stick better to the wall.
Doing this operation you must keep the ridges the same size and depth throughout the all backsplash area. This will decide how flat will look the backsplash tiles on the wall.
The next step is pressing the tiles into the cement on the wall and keep them for a while till they connect with the wall.
Every single metal tile on the wall should lay in the same pattern that was tried out earlier on the floor.
After that we have to wait till the cement is completely dry, It takes around 48 hours.
If your tiles need you have to put the grout between tiles. The grout will dry and become strong in about a week.
From that moment you can enjoy a beautiful and strong backsplash that will stay in your kitchen for years.

Our first copper backsplash had a chemical reaction to the grout used. What do you recommend to avoid this happening with the replacement. Cement? What type exactly? Glue – anything guaranteed not to affect the tile?
Thank you.
